LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Ryan Reynolds said he might adopt a child in the future, but not because of any celebrity trend.

"My oldest brother is adopted and I have every intention of adopting at some time," he told the British edition of Glamour magazine. "I'm very grateful for having my brother in my life."

The star of "The Proposal," who married Scarlett Johansson in September 2008, said he is a big advocate of giving a needy child a home.

"I couldn't be more pro-adoption," the Canadian actor said. "There are plenty of kids in the world that need it."

Ryan, who grew up with three brothers, also told the magazine that the presence of so many young men in his life as a child, helped him on his path to action roles in movies like "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

"I [learned] how to take a punch from a very early age," he said. "I was routinely pummeled into a fine cottage cheese."

they cant have their own kids because Scarlett is a diseased little whore!! Who knows what STD she gave Ryan on their wedding night?! It could be one of several diseases- thats why she is not talking...he may have said to her"just let me talk about adopting kids- you've already done enough damage by giving me an STD on our wedding night...but I will forgive you because you are a n

Does the child eat peanut butter everyday? Does he have to pay for wisdom teeth? What would it mean to people how much money I donate. Join in ya'll. You guys can pretend to be in comments. You should get the child helping with those bills when they're 16. Spoil 1 child. That's favoritism. Where would I be without writing. I like movies and music. I just don't tell

It's expected for a woman who got selected to act when she was eight would adopt a child. I won't say nothing on T.V. about her. I don't want kids. How come she didn't help me when I had no job. Here goes the money issue. That's a major issue. You know how Pdiddy was when he got some extra cash fo notin. I think people care more about kissing ... then they

Couples need to be in sync on this and other issues-no indication how Scarlett feels on this matter- and I have to wonder why. Hope they agree on this issue- there's more to a marriage than just sex with a nice looking partner. If they don't agree,it's another Hollywood divorce waiting to happen.laways wondered what he saw in this little used diseasd whore anyway. she probab

Hop Scarlett agrees with the idea. Wondering why he and Scarlett don't have their own though- they are both young and beautiful. Unless of course Scarlett gave Ryan an STD.... possible considering her "loose" reputation in Hollywood. Its well known that she sleeps with ANYTHING that is male and walks!Oh well hope they agree on the adoption thing- and that the child is fr

I am an adoption attorney, and I would like to say that adopting from out of the US is generally much MORE expensive than US adoptions. Depending on what state you are in, US adoptions can be difficult, as parental rights must be terminated by a court first. The goal in the US is to reunite children in foster care with birth parents. Only if that truly will not work are parental rights terminated.

Another african baby? Well the pickens will never be slim. Wow this trend is so super disgusting. With so many american babies in foster care and those older who'll never see a permanent home. Wow, I hate hollywood.

I wish him the best on adoption no matter where the child comes from, I think many people adopt from out of the U.S. because it is "easier" and a lot cheaper. Best of Luck
