Ryan Reynolds - who plays the wise-cracking Deadpool from
X-Men Origins: Wolverine - is getting his own spin-off movie.
In a project currently being developed by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Comics, the mutant assassin will regain the ability to shoot off his mouth (which was sewn shut in
Wolverine), according to the
Hollywood Reporter.

"I've made no secret about my desire to do a Deadpool movie, but if you're going to do it, it would have to be 100 percent faithful to its origins," he told
MTV News. "To stay as true to the source material as possible is the only way to do it, and I say that because theres nothing more interesting than the source material for Deadpool. There's no reason to deviate from that."

Wolverine sequel also is in the works, focusing on a samurai storyline that was introduced in the bar scene at the the end of the current blockbuster.
