Rosie O’Donnell was holed up in her $5.9 million mansion along the Hudson River in Nyack, New York, during the nasty storm and shared the scary details on Twitter. “2 huge branches down – broke the fence … just saw another huge sailboat flailing down the Hudson on high white swells,” she tweeted Monday. That was followed by, “Dock is totally covered by water,” and posted a photo of the broken dock with debris (including broken chairs) strewn all around. However, later she added, "All is well here by us. Damage to the dock and flooded craft house - all fixable."

Donnie Wahlberg, who lives in a New York City high-rise, started out with a light-hearted attitude about the storm, posting a photo of the “emergency” bacon he purchased in anticipation of Sandy, but his mood soon changed. “So much for bacon. My entire building is under a foot of water. Awesome neighbors all banding together to help each other! Stay safe!” he tweeted Monday night. The “Blue Bloods” star later shared several videos of damage that was done to his apartment. Shin-deep in water, he is seen walking around his kitchen as bowls and other kitchen products float by. Despite the drama, he remained positive: “Safe & Sound on Higher Ground! Don't worry about me. Material things are meaningless. Check in with those you know in the storm!" he posted.
Melissa Joan Hart, who just welcomed her third son, was caught in the middle of the drama at her home in the coastal town of Westport, Connecticut, which sits along the Long Island Sound. “Moving the family to the basement. Too many giant trees falling. Stay safe everyone. God Bless,” the “Melissa and Joey” actress tweeted during the storm. After things calmed down, she updated her followers, “Thanks for all the love and prayers. We are all good just gonna be without power for a long time. I think Halloween for my boys is a bust.”
While Ali Wentworth was okay, her car wasn't. The actress/comedian posted a photo of her SUV, which had a tree on it. "Damn you Sandy," Wentworth captioned the photo, but she didn't seem that upset -- one of her daughter was posed in front of the car smiling.
Alec Baldwin, who was photographed casually walking his two dogs prior to Sandy’s arrival, eventually lost his power, too. “No lights here, no Internet. My wife @hilariabaldwin and I, sitting in the dark wondering where is the storm? (No jokes please),” he wrote. Later, the “30 Rock” star was considering leaving his luxury apartment: “Possibly leaving our home to check into a hotel. #powerless.”
Kelly Ripa was also without electricity. She tweeted a very dark photo during the storm of her three children, writing, “Full blackout mode in effect.” On Tuesday, they were still without power. "We are listening to news reports on the radio in the Barbie van. The only radio that works," she wrote, posting a photo of her daughter with the toy.
Other celebrities also shared updates during the storm, though they weren’t as deeply impacted.
Debra Messing, who shoots “Smash” in the city, had a quiet night despite the storm. Posting a photo of her roaring fireplace, the actress wrote, “And red wine... All I need are s'mores and a book and I'm set for #sandy.” Later, she assured her fans she and her young son were safe: “Thanks for all the concerned tweets... Thank goodness we are all okay... Thinking of those who aren't.”
Snooki was also safe at home in North Jersey during Sandy, but the new mom was thinking about Seaside Heights, New Jersey, where she and her “Jersey Shore” pals filmed their show. “Seaside Heights suffered bad from the hurricane and my prayers go out to everyone affected!” she tweeted on Tuesday. “We are all fine here...love you JS.”
Meanwhile, "Noah" is one of several movie productions to be halted by the hurricane. Of course it didn’t go unnoticed that the film is about ... a flood. Emma Watson, who appears in the production with Russell Crowe, tweeted, "I take it that the irony of a massive storm holding up the production of Noah is not lost @DarrenAronofsky@russellcrowe.”
