    Rooney Mara Wears Daring Dress Cut Down to Her Navel

    Rooney Mara did her best Jennifer Lopez impression, stepping out in a plunging dress (it dipped down to her navel!) on Tuesday.

    The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star, who favors minimalist styles and neutral colors, donned the plum-colored J. Mendel design at the 2012 Costume Designers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills.

    Mara, 26, paired the revealing look with nude peep-toe platforms and deep burgundy lips. Her hair, which she chopped off and dyed jet black to play a punk computer hacker in the flick, was slicked back.

    "People always ask, 'Were you crying when they cut your hair?' And it didn't freak me out at all," she told Allure. "I was really happy to do it."

    And her onscreen character Lisbeth Salander left a mark on the actress' personal style, too. "I used to wear a lot of girlie, frilly things, now I buy things that are more comfortable, and more utilitarian, and sort of boyish."

      Cute dress. The color looks great on her skin. I don't think it's all that daring, though. Maybe if she had bigger boobs, but women with small boobs can wear these dresses and not look vulgar,

        The hair is too dark for her colouring ... the lipstick is horrible - the dress is dark and the shoes can barely be seen.

        She's not confident enough to carry it off. She needs to grow up and dress for HER body and HER colouring.

        She still has the Lisbeth Salander hair, is why it's so black. I'm not a fan of the lipstick or the shoes either, but I do like the dress and I think the color works on her. She definitely seems to lack confidence, like she isn't used to all this limelight. It was very fast for her. Maybe in time, she'll carry herself better.

      I think she looks great. The color complements her skin tone and she manages to look classy in a low cut dress. Love it.

      Rooney Mara is a young up and becoming actress who should be given time to grow in her profession and dress in whatever suits her without some ppl here bashing and bad mouthing her. She is a young lady of good character and does not deserve negative comments.

      Don't know why she is getting all this press for that movie GWDT...it was a remake and the Orignal actress was WAYYYY better. Rooney just got naked and damn is she Ugly in the movie, the orignal actress was actually way hotter...and the acting chops? Where I did not see any, because all she did was copy the Original movies actress....Go watch the Original GWDT its only 2 years old and is WAY better!

      I am sick of these boney boy-women (?)! What happened to real women? Curves, a shape, nice sexy legs, round butts, nice breasts? Who convinced women they need to be shaped like 11 year old boys? Did all the women just disappear into the ether? I remember! Women's libbers chased them off! Why don't we get rid of the Libbers (man wannabes), feed these "women" some food, and see what happens? Maybe there are real women inside the boy things just waiting for a chance to escape!

        Excuse me but who decided that these woman aren't 'real' woman? Some men are heavier, have thicker bones and built larger and some are thinner and smaller boned. Does that mean that they aren't 'real' men because they don't fit the standard idea of what a man should be? There is no 'generic' model for a woman or for a man. People have this idea that 'real' woman have curves, big breasts, all those things but actually a real woman is just any woman. Body types are all different and it's wrong to stereotype any body type in either sex because we're all so different. So what some women look boyish? Some men look 'girlish' if you want to go there but that doesn't make them not 'real'.
