LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans

James Franco Gets No Love From His UCLA Alums: James Franco graduated from UCLA in 2008 with a degree in English, but the graduating class of 2009 is not happy that he's been invited back as a speaker for graduation - they've even mobilized a Facebook page protesting his inclusion in the ceremony. " James Franco has been chosen as the speaker for the College of Letters and Sciences Commencement Ceremony for 2009. Clearly, this is ridiculous. Anyone who has been in his classes knows he is an average student at UCLA. This is an accomplishment while working in his industry, but he is our academic peer, which makes him an inappropriate choice for a keynote speaker. His academic experiences are too limited thus far to provide him with the wisdom and perspective such a speaker is meant to provide to graduates," the group wrote on the social networking Web site. Adding, "Furthermore, we have worked hard as academics for four years: his successes are (thus far) completely irrelevant to that!" Sounds like a couple thousand people are a wee bit jealous of their good-looking, rich, Golden Globe-nominated classmate.

The Franco Security Concern At Columbia: In more James Franco news, the "Milk" actor is also causing a stir at his current place of study, Columbia University. "Now that girls have figured out his schedule, every week there's a bigger crowd outside his lectures waiting just to see him leave," a source told The New York Post's Page Six. "It's getting to be that there are so many people, it's embarrassing." No love for Franco on the west coast and too much love on the east coast! Can't a guy just get a graduate degree in peace?

New Couple Alert: "90210'" stars Dustin Milligan and Jessica Stroup appear to have developed a show-mance! According to People, the co-stars were spotted at Teddy's inside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel reportedly cozying up to each other. "Dustin was very into his girl," the source claims. Maybe this will spice things up for the CW show, which has been lacking the drama we originally hoped for!

It always cracks me up when geeky kids cry about being "true Academics"... Okay, good for you. That's great. What I don't understand is why these pseudo-intellects care. Sure, there's the obvious man vs. man insecurity, but get over it. The core is still true: Your ceremony will include a speech from all the regular dweebs it always does, so back o

It sounds like the kids want a speaker that has something relevant to say about their future careers or the state of the world in general. The world does not revolve around movies and most people will not have careers in entertainment. Though Mr. Franco may be successful, one cannot blame the students at a top university for expecting to hear from a Bill Clinton, Steve Jobs or Maya Angelou.
