R&B crooner Robin Thicke was arrested for marijuana possession, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed to Access Hollywood on Friday.

The "Lost Without U," singer was arrested at 12:25 PM ET while sitting in a Cadillac Escalade near 3rd Avenue and East 21st, in NYC, the spokesperson told Access Hollywood.

He was charged with possession of an unknown amount of marijuana.

A source told Access on Friday that the singer was pulled over after he was observed throwing something out of the window of the car he was in.

The source said police opened up a cigarette box in the vehicle and found a "roach."

Thicke was taken to a police station and issued a summons. He was only there for about 15 minutes and wound up signing autographs for the staff.

The 34 year old singer, husband to "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" star Paula Patton, released his latest album, "Love After War" last year.

In a December interview on New York's Power 105.1 to promote the release, Thicke was asked about past drug rumors, and he replied, "Oh gosh, let's just put it this way, I've never met a drug that I didn't like," he said.

"But when the baby shows up, you gotta focus [on that]. Baby first," he added, referring to his son, Julian, who was born in April 2010.

This is SO stupid! Arresting people for smoking a flower, and loudly proclaiming how "free" you are! I hope I live long enough to see America finally grow up, but I doubt it...

Man didn't make alcohol, it is a natural by product of fermentation. Just leave some fruit lying around. Not as smart as you think you are, are you, pothead.

in a natural system alcohol is an intermediate fermentation product and must be protected to be preserved as alcohol, hence the human involvement, douchebag.........

$1,500.00 is cost of each pot bust in NYC. That could pay for 5 cleft palate operations in the 3rd world. Of course .... that would be socialism.
      • fedup 3 months ago
And everyone caught should pay the $1500 as a fine plus a lot extra. It's illegal, where's the confusion?
      • bigbadude 3 months ago
hope they raise the cost you do not need it!

First off to all who have posted here. I have never in my life smoked weed. And i still cant understand how alchol is legal and weed isnt. Other than the government just wants thier tax money. Biut i ask if weed is so bad then would any law maker or cop if stranded rather have someone that smoked a joint drive your child home or someone that drank a six pack. The person that smoked the joint if anything would be slower and more carefull in my opinion. Vs the drinker killing everyone but him/herself in a crash...

    • queen  •  3 months ago
you arrest someone for marijuana, but you sell cigarrettes and alcohol and put a tax on it to make money! No one has ever died from smoking marijuana, but clearly alcohol and cigarettes are deadly, how interesting.smh

Silly authorities arresting people for possessing herbs. What next, possession of paprika?

Why did the police "open up a cigarette box in the vehicle"? Police are prohibited from searching the vehicle unless they either 1) are given permission by the owner, 2) have a signed search warrant, or 3) the driver is placed under arrest first.

Throwing something out of the window would not have gotten him arrested. One must assume that either the police conducted an illegal search, or he was ingnorant enough to grant them permission (perhaps thinking, "I have nothing to hide anyway").

You never know when you have something even just a little bit illegal that you may have forgotten about, or did not know is illegal, or someone else left behind by accident. Never, ever, EVER consent to police searching your car - it can only escalate the situation.
