Robin Gibb Reveals Treatment for Serious Illness

Robin Gibb Hospitalized for More Surgery

Former Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb said on Friday he had made a "spectacular" recovery and is putting on weight after being treated for a serious health issue.

Gibb, 62, had previously declined to elaborate on exactly what he was suffering from after photographers snapped him in recent months looking frail and gaunt. But he told the BBC on Friday that the problem stemmed from a growth in his colon.

"Well, it's all simple. I was diagnosed with a growth in my colon. It was removed. And I've been treated for that by a brilliant doctor, and in their own words 'the results have been spectacular,'" Gibb said. He added that doctors have told him that the growth is "almost gone" and he now feels better than he has in a decade.

    Robin Gibb Blogs Health Update

Of the gloomy media reports of his illness, some of which suggested he was near death, Gibb told the BBC: "I mean the fact is, I've never spoken to anybody about my condition or the condition that I was in, and a lot of them go over the top to the point where they're telling me things that I didn't even know about myself."

Gibb is scheduled to make his live comeback on February 13 during a charity concert at London's famous Palladium theater.
