Ricky Gervais: Why I'll Never Host the Golden Globes Again

Let's hope fans of Ricky Gervais got their fill at Sunday's Golden Globes, because the Brit comic insists he's done hosting the annual film and TV awards fest.

PHOTOS: What all the stars wore at the Golden Globes

Under strict orders from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (and the censors) not to curse, Gervais says that his opening monologue's jabs at Kim Kardashian, Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster helped make his third time at the mic memorable.

    PHOTOS: Kim Kardashian's terrible year

"The crowd were great this year too," the comic -- who was slammed for his offensive commentary on Charlie Sheen and Hugh Hefner, among others, at last year's show -- wrote on his blog. "I think they finally worked out that my gags only seemed rude and nasty but were actually not too scary at all. Or they were just drunker. Either way, it was fun..."

Still, the 50-year-old says he's had his fill of skewering Hollywood heavyweights.

"I've told my agent to never let me be persuaded to [host] again," he blogged. "It's like a parachute jump. You can only really enjoy it in retrospect when you realize you didn't die and it was quite an amazing thing to do."

I don't watch boring awards shows no matter who's hosting. It doesn't matter. Life is short.

I'd give a thumbs up, but the board won't let me.

apparently not too short to read that article and comment on it, lol. if you don't watch the shows, why waste time reading and commenting on something you know nothing about. theres a couple of minutes of your life you will never get back

Don't have the time because life is so short, yet you have the time to read an article on something you had no interest in to begin with (according to your comment) and took the time to reply as well. Seems silly.

Why do we need award programs? To make Hollywierd stars feel good and special about themselves.

The same as your bank gives awards to their top employees. They are meant for people who like movies, no one else need tune in.

True, but they don't televise the Royal Bank Employee of the Year awards. (and I wouldn't watch them either...lol)

Everyone is making fun of that whole family but especially Kim. She deserves it.

Why should he bother? It is obvious they did what they could to keep him muzzled or off camera. All those pinched faces & undoubtedly pinched butts in the audience were sitting there, just waiting for the zingers that never came.
It was an obvious ploy to lure the viewing audience in to watch, then not let Ricky deliver.

What is it with actors and musicians that they contrive or have others put on so many awards shows to give them on most occasions, just egotistical awards! Is it that they just have way to much narcissism in Hollywood?

What's next ... an award show for award shows? There's enough of them!

The teachers of the world deserve the awards, not a bunch of narcissistic stars.

Interesting analogy. I loathed jumping out of airplanes (a means to an end-changing jobs), but parachuting was amazing in retrospect. Hangliding too, but not something I feel compelled to do again, Find a new venue you enjoy! Best.

You want funny, entertaining, and rowdy? Next time, try the AVN awards. Nothing funnier than drunk, uninhibited pornstars going wild.
