Actress Ricky Lake and her boyfriend Christian Evans are due some congratulations. The pair apparently wed in a secret ceremony sometime over the weekend. A source close to the couple confirmed to Us Weekly that they are now married and very happy. If that wasn't enough, Lake tweeted a photo of herself in a white wedding gown, gazing out a window. The newlyweds started dating in 2010, and were engaged last August.
This is the second marriage for Ricki who was married to and has two children with Rob Sussman. The engagement itself took some getting used to for Lake, who admits to being gun shy about hopping back into marriage. She said that "Following the end of my first marriage, I was certain that romantic love would not find me again." Luckily for Ricki and Christian, that was one prophecy that didn't come true.
In getting eloped, Lake and Evans joined a long list of stars who have chosen to get hitched behind closed doors. Many celebrities go that route to avoid the media circus that accompanies most showbiz weddings. Here are a few of the more notable instances of a star taking the plunge away from prying eyes.
Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz - When these two mega-talented stars said "I do" we hope they clinked their Oscars together. In 2010 Cruz and Bardem, both Academy Award winning actors, got married in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas at a friend's house. Last year the extremely good looking couple welcome a son Leo into the world.
Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds - Not every secret marriage winds up going the distance, and ScarJo can attest to that fact. In September of 2008 the "Lost in Translation" star married her beau Reynolds in a ceremony in the woods of Vancouver. Sadly, love didn't last, and the two were divorced in 2011.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon - It's been a roller-coaster of emotion for Cannon and Carey since their 2008 elopement in the Bahamas after just a little over two months of dating each other. They celebrated the birth of their twins, son Morrocan and daughter Monroe after a public miscarriage just after their nuptials. Then before the twins were a year old Nick had to be hospitalized for kidney failure. Thankfully, it seems they're out of the woods and by all reports the Carey-Cannon family is doing quite well.
