SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Tila Tequila reportedly used her Twitter page over the weekend to defend herself following an alleged incident with NFL star Shawne Merriman that ended with the pint-sized reality star making a citizen's arrest of the linebacker.

On Sunday, the San Diego Charger was arrested by authorities on suspicion of choking and restraining the former "Shot of Love" star. The incident reportedly happened as Tequila, who is under 5-feet tall, attempted to leave Merriman's home during the early hours of Sunday morning, the Associated Press reported.

Following the incident, Merriman -- who is 6'4" and 265 lbs. -- released a statement claiming he was only worried about the reality star's safety, as she appeared to be intoxicated.

"At the time, I was concerned about her welfare given the intoxicated state she appeared to be in and I encouraged her to stay until safe transportation could be provided," Merriman said in his statement. "We would all do our best to help a friend if we considered their actions to be detrimental to their personal safety."

But over the weekend, in Twitter posts which have now been deleted from her official account, Tequila reportedly insisted she does not consume alcohol despite her liquor-friendly moniker.

"I am allergic to alcohol. It has been publicly known for years. That is how I got the name Tila 'Tequila' cuz the irony. I cant drink," she reportedly wrote in a post which has since been deleted from her page, but remains on the Web portal as dozens of Twitter users re-Tweeted it.

Also, according to Twitter re-Tweeters, Tequila also wrote, "Steroid use makes people act aggressive....known fact."

As for Merriman, he spoke out about the situation again on Monday saying he hopes he will be vindicated.

"It's a tough situation," he said, according to ESPN. "People have to ask themselves what would they do in a situation like that. Hopefully everything comes out about it and confirms what I've said."
