LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Model Rachel Hunter and Canadian hockey player Jarret Stoll will not be walking down the aisle as planned.

According to Britain's The Daily Mail, Jarret, 27, has suddenly called off the wedding just seven weeks before he was going to tie the knot with the 39-year-old model.

A rep for Rachel confirmed the news of the split to the paper in a statement, saying, "Can Associates Limited regret to inform you that the August wedding of Rachel Hunter and Jarret Stoll has been cancelled and the couple have decided to split. We ask you to respect Rachel and her family's privacy during this extremely upsetting time."

A friend of the model told Britain's The Sun, who was first to reported the news of the split, "She is absolutely devastated. Everything was in place for their wedding - she had the venue, the designer dress, the guest list. She has absolutely no idea why Jarret has done this. It sounds like it could be a classic case of cold feet. He is a fair bit younger than her."

The couple's August wedding was reportedly going to be a lavish ceremony with Sharon Stone and Michelle Pfeiffer rumored to be attending.

Since her split, Rachel has been reportedly finding comfort in ex-husband Rod Stewart, who she married in 1990.

"Rod has been amazing through all of this - a real support," a friend of the model told the paper.

Rachel and Rod split in 1999 and officially divorced in 2006.

    Rachel needs to do some soul-searching at this time in her life and concentrate more on her career, if she still has one after RS. Gawd, life with him must have been a horrendous drain of energy, he's so needy of attention. But life goes on and she will get it together hopefully, in a positive venue. Neither she nor her children need such a young, immature man in her life.

    Sounds like this guy needs to grow up-- better now than later that he decides he doesn't want to get married. Time will heal the wounds someone that looks like her and can clearlly take care of herself will be just fine. I wish I had half of what she has going for her!!!
