New York's Daily News reports that Sutherland, 42, was talking to Brooke Shields at a Met Gala after-party when McCollough accidentally bumped into the actress. Sutherland, who appeared intoxicated, then demanded the designer apologize.

"Sutherland was really drunk," another witness tells the New York Post. "They started arguing and then he just head-butted him."
McCollough's injuries remain unknown, but TMZ reports he suffered lacerations on his nose.

Reps for Shields tell TMZ that McCollough "did nothing inappropriate. It's not clear what caused Kiefer to do what he did."
Police are currently investigating the incident.

This isn't Sutherland's first booze-related mishap.
He was arrested in 2004 for DUI and, again, in 2007. In the 2007 case, he pleaded no contest to the DUI charge and was sentenced to 48 days in jail.
At the time, he said, "I'm very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I'm deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox."
