Report: Hillary Clinton Supporters Woo Contributions With 'American Idol' Finale Tickets

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Hillary Clinton has a $6 million dollar debt from her White House bid - and she's hoping "American Idol" can help pay it down.

Clinton's longtime friend, James Carville, sent an e-mail to potential contributors on Thursday offering them the chance "to win one of three truly once in a lifetime opportunities," including two tickets to the "American Idol Finale," The New York Daily News reported.

"You and a guest will watch live as the American Idol judges make their final comments and decisions on this year's most anticipated season finale!" Carville reportedly wrote in the e-mail to Clinton supporters.

Also offered to Clinton's supporters, "a day with President Clinton" in New York City and a weekend with Hillary herself in Washington, D.C..

According to the paper, there is no cost to enter for a chance to win, but the e-mail expressed the desire to bring in contributions to help pay back the Secretary of State's campaign debt.

As a sitting cabinet member, Clinton is allowed to raise funds to pay off a previous debt, but federal ethics laws prevent her from personally asking for donations, according to The New York Daily News.

The FOX reality competition does not sell tickets to its show, but instead gives them away to fans.

A rep for FOX told Access, "The 'American Idol' finale tickets were not supplied by FOX or News Corporation."
