Kiefer Sutherland's rep has released a statement about last Monday's head-butting incident at an after-party for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Gala.
"We are troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding
Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening," his rep tells Usmagazine.com in a statement. "We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorneys Office and the NYPD will confirm that
Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident. Out of respect for this law enforcement process,
Kiefer Sutherland will not be making any comment."

24 star surrendered to police Tuesday on assault charges for allegedly headbutting Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough.
Sutherland, 42, was talking to
Brooke Shields at the after-party when McCollough accidentally bumped into the actress, according to reports. Sutherland, who appeared intoxicated, then demanded the designer apologize.
See star mugshots.McCollough claims Sutherland attacked him after the argument, leaving him a broken nose. Detectives also may question Shields as a witness.
This isn't Sutherland's first booze-related mishap.
Check out photos of stars in court.He was arrested in 2004 for DUI and, again, in 2007. In the 2007 case, he pleaded no contest to the DUI charge and was sentenced to 48 days in jail. It's unclear whether the charges will affect his probation status.
