LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Katherine Heigl is going to be a mom, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

Katherine and her husband, musician Josh Kelley, are adopting a child, a rep for the "Grey's Anatomy" star confirmed to Access.

"Katherine and Josh are adopting a baby," the rep told Access.

No additional details were available from Katherine's rep, however, Radar Online reported on Wednesday that an adoption process for a baby girl, 10-month-old Nayleigh from Korea, began at least six months ago. The girl's nickname will be Leigh.

Earlier this summer, the "Grey's Anatomy" star told Access' Shaun Robinson that she and musician husband Josh Kelley were "working on" adoption in between their busy schedules.

"Soon-ish, maybe," she said. "We're working on it. It's just we are super crazed... Neither one of us want to give up our careers, neither one of us want to, you know, just be parents, but you have to slow down a little bit in order to devote the time that's needed."

While many stars have explored adoption, it's nothing new to Katherine.

"My sister [Meg] is Korean," she explained at the time. "My parents adopted her in the '70s. I just grew up that way and she's one of my bestest friends and she's my sister too and I just felt like I kind of want that in my family too."

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Katherine is taking a multi-episode hiatus from "Grey's" to film her next movie, "Life As We Know It."

Radar Online was first to report the adoption news.

I think it's great that they want more out of life than to change diapers and wipe noses. I think it sets a great example for little girls that they can be ambitious and achieve anything they want and they don't have to get married, have kids, and be trapped in suburbia like a 50's housewife. People do not have to give up their careers to be good parents, why do people thin

Hey Lola Palooza- Ha!!! I have to laugh when young little idiots like you TRY so HARD to sound profound and intelligent. You don't even know the meaning of self involved and what the actual undertone implies.... Being self involved you little idiot is NOT a good thing. Stop trying to sound wise because it isn't working. Being self involved is NO BETTER than being selfish and

"neither one of us want to, you know, just be parents"...JUST parents... another stellar sound bite from Hollywood's young and delusional -- she says it like being a parent some kind of low-level job that is beneath her ivory tower social status -- celebrities are just crazy!

they forgot who they were. that generates bratty kids who think the world revolveds around them and at age 24 can't understand why everyone else thinks they are little pricks and mommy and daddy are still wiping their behinds. just sayin'

miss a... part of being young is being self involved. i know tons of people who are self involved and ya know what? they are perfectly good parents. sometimes they are the best parents in the end because they teach the children independence and how to go after their dreams and still have a happy home. what kids don't need are needy parents that dote on them 24/7 because somewhere along the
