Reality TV Takes Over 2008

Access Hollywood - December 21, 2007 2:44 AM PST

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (December 31, 2007) It is now day 57 of the Writer's Guild of America strike and with no writers, no new scripts will mean some sitcoms and dramas are going off the air.

In the new year, look for more unscripted shows.

So what can you expect reality-wise?

There's a whole new twist to Season 7 of "American Idol" contestants are allowed to audition with instruments.

"It is a vocal competition, but I do think some of the contestants found it easier to face the judges by having that comfort blanket," "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest told Access Hollywood of the twist.

And leave it to Fox to debut the most controversial reality show of the new year with "The Moment of Truth."

The new show hooks up stressed out contestants to a lie detector test to answer questions like, "Is there a part of your husband's body that repulses you?"

Over on NBC, the games begin again with "American Gladiators."

Premiering January 6, "Gladiators" is a classic battle of wits and muscle!

Also premiering in January on NBC? "The Celebrity Apprentice."

CBS will bring back Drew Carey into primetime for the "Power of 10," while ABC hopes the power of "Dancing with the Stars" makes for another smash hit with its spin-off show: "Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann."

I hate all of those fake reality shows. The only reality shows that I watch are the court shows. I haven't ever watched any of the mentioned shows except American Idol a while back. My family loves to watch the comedy sitcoms, most of the older ones, and the drama shows like Law & Order, Cold Case, The Closer, Criminal Intent, Monk, and Without A Trace.
