Ray Romano Reveals Wife's Cancer Battle

Ray Romano Reveals Wife's Cancer Battle

While Everybody Loves Raymond and Men of a Certain Age star Ray Romano has been lighting up our TVs for the past two decades, the funnyman has just opened about a very private battle within his own home. Romano has just revealed that his wife of 24 years, Anna, has been battling stage one breast cancer. And thankfully, the couple reveals that Anna has made a full recovery.

Romano told People, "The reason we're going public is to share our experience, yeah, but to have an effect." He continued, "Our goal is to help people."

Guliana Rancic's Show Focuses on Cancer Battle

A doctor discovered a lump in Anna’s right breast, and subsequently the 48-year-old had a mammogram and a biopsy. In February 2010, she discovered she had "invasive breast cancer."

In the interview, Anna admits that losing her hair after her four rounds of chemotherapy was very difficult, saying, "I'm already shy and the last thing I wanted to do was walk around bald."

She also divulged that as a mother to four children, she also found it difficult to prioritize herself. "I take on everybody's stress, but this had to be all about me," she says. "I'm not like that!"

The duo also reported since learning that Anna has made a full recovery, they are now focusing on helping others.

"We dodged a bullet," says Ray. "Now we want to give back."

Romano stars with Andre Braugher and Scott Bakula in Men of Certain Age on TNT.

Glad to hear she has made a full recovery. I was diagnosed back in Sept of "11 with stage 2 breast cancer and had to have a masectomy in Oct. I too lost my hair and have just completed 8 rounds of chemo. I am thankful they got all of the cancer and very thankful it did not spread. I will be doing 6 wks of radiation also to make sure it does not come back. I just hope Anna has a strong support system around her. You definitly need that. I had an awesome support system around me and still do, and am so greatful for them all. Could not have gotten thru everything without them. Anna, good luck to you and your family.

It's times like this that celebrities find out how mortal they really are. I'm happy that it is going well for them, and that they want to give back. All the money and fame in the world can't help when a loved one is having their life threatened. That's where love and soulfulness take over.

Now this is a story. As opposed to the Gisele my poor Tommy cant do it alone nonsense. Oh and Mary - I'm a breast cancer survivor. Stage 2B. How dare you be so callous to say you know many women with stage 1 breast cancer it's so common now. Let's just hope and pray you don't become "common"

Hang in there Anna. I used to sew hairpieces on to a hat so it looked like I had hair. Now I have tons more hair than I ever did! Biggest thing is fighting the disease and staying healthy and get rid of some of that stress! Best wishes to you and your family from a survivor. Stay strong girl!

I wish you both well. Because this cancer is not a joke and affects the whole family. My daughter has be fighting stage 3 cancer just before her 35th birthday. She has lost her hair, nausous all the time, and all of the other thing that chemo can put your body through this is her 2 round of chemo even after having a total mascectomy. She also have lymphonia, this is when the lymph nodes have been remove and there is no circulation and her swells up to the double it's size. She is constant pain there is a nerve sitting on a lymph node and they said radiation cause more pain because it could damage the nerve.
I thank God that you and your family have had a fully recovery. Be Blessed and enjoy every, second, minute, hour, day, week, year and love on each other. Thats what its all about. If you can get through this you make it through anything.
