Rapper Jim Jones arrested after fight at US casino

MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut (AP) — Rapper Jim Jones has been arrested and charged with assaulting a state trooper during a brawl at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.

State police spokesman J. Paul Vance says the hip-hop artist and actor was charged with assault on a police officer and breach of peace. He was released after posting bond.

Vance says Jones assaulted a trooper during the fight Friday night. He said he was not certain how the altercation began.

The 35-year-old rapper, born Joseph Jones, is one of the Diplomats, a Harlem-based rap crew. His "We Fly High" was one of 2007's top-selling rap tracks.

An attorney who has represented Jones in the past did not immediately respond to a message Saturday seeking comment.
