Just when you think it couldn't get any better, it does. "CTRL: A" could very well be the episode that acts like a catalyst to the season finale, which is just around the corner!
"CTRL: A" began with Caleb, Hanna, Spencer, and Aria waiting for the arrival of Emily (Shay Mitchell) and the Rosewood High School swim team. Spencer's (Troian Bellisario) been staying with the Montgomery's since she found out Jason DiLaurentis (Drew Van Acker) is her brother and Ella (Holly Marie Combs) doesn't get why an overnight stay has turned into several.
"A" Targets Caleb (Tyler Blackburn):
The police, lead by none other than your friendly neighborhood cop Officer Garrett Reynolds (Yani Gellman), arrive at the school and approach Caleb. They have a court order to take possession of his laptop on the pretense that someone has been hacking school information. Hanna (Ashley Benson) informs her fellow "Liars."
The girls get a text message: "Now it's Caleb's turn. - A"
Hanna wants to know why Caleb isn't freaked out and he tells his best girl that he keeps everything on a flash drive and online. Hanna then tells Caleb she wants him to hack his own computer remotely in order to get rid of whatever was planted on it. When Caleb tries to gain access to his computer, he's unable to connect. The cops either have it turned off or they've disabled wireless access.
Later, the police tell Caleb he can have his laptop back if he cooperates. In the meantime, Garrett is tempted to get on the laptop when Detective Darren Wilden (Bryce Johnson) shows up, shuts the laptop, and hands Garrett a photo.
Hanna and Ashley Are Summoned to the Police Station:
Hanna and her mom are summoned to the Rosewood Police Station where Detective Wilden meets with them. He says that a page from Alison's autopsy is missing before showing them a picture. The picture shows Hanna, Spencer, and Aria outside the morgue when they were searching for Ali's file in a previous episode.
As Hanna and her mom leave, Ashley wants to know why the girls were in the morgue. Ashley's radar is up as she searches for a lie but Hanna tells her they didn't take page 5 of Ali's autopsy report.
When the Marin's return home, the swim teams celebration is in full swing. Hanna quickly tells Emily and Spencer about the photo.
Hanna and Spencer: Hackers? You Bet!
With Caleb still at the police station and a frenzied call to Hanna before the police arrive, Hanna enlists Spencer for help cracking into Caleb's laptop.
Caleb is being questioned by Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson) and is then told to log in to his laptop. Once he's logged in, the detective has him stand against the wall. Elsewhere, the girls have connected to the laptop and as the detective and Garrett start looking through files, Spencer tells Hanna to CTRL: A to delete all the files. The police are stunned to see everything disappear into oblivion. Whew!
Byron (Chad Lowe) Finds a Note:
Byron arrives at his car and finds a note: "Do you know where your daughter will be? I do. - A" The note includes the name and address of a restaurant where Ezra wants to meet Aria.
The lovebirds plans change, however, when Aria learns Holden has an abdominal aneurysm, not a heart condition like her mother told her. She feels like she needs to keep an eye on her friend. She attends a tournament Holden is fighting in and calls off her date with Ezra.
Ezra arrives at the restaurant just as he receives Aria's text message. After reading it, he glances inside and see's Byron sitting at a table. Yikes! This had the potential to turn out ugly!
Spencer Learns the Circumstances Surrounding Her Father's Affair With Jessica:
When Spencer arrives home, she sees her father's briefcase. Looking inside, she picks up his checkbook. After all, she has Jonah to pay off for information that could lead them to Ali's killer. Her father interrupt's her and judging by the look on her face, she has nothing but contempt for the man.
Peter (Nolan North) tells his daughter the circumstances surrounding his affair with Jessica DiLaurentis, Jason's mother. At the time, he wasn't married but Jessica was. Spencer tells her father that Jason found money and letters. She wants to know if Ali was blackmailing him. Peter denied having ever given any of the DiLaurentis' money.
When Spencer and Jason meet later, she tells her new-found brother that she doesn't believe her father gave Ali any money and wants to know where the money is at. Jason gets up and walks out on Spencer. Later, Jason shows up at the Hastings house. He apologizes to Spencer and tells her it was just easier to think Ali was blackmailing Peter. Spencer then tells Jason she needs him to trust her to the tune of $2,000 - the amount Jonah wanted to reveal the information he had found for Ali.
Is This the End of Emily and Maya?
Everyone thinks Emily and Maya are perfect for each other, but that might not be the case after all. To begin with, Maya tells Emily that her folks found an old joint. She's upset about the prospect of being sent away again.
Next, while Emily and her teammates are celebrating their win at the swim meet, Maya - who is behaving like a killjoy - is sitting on the stairs sulking. Emily sees her and joins her on the stairs. The two talk and Em rejoins her teammates.
Emily later finds her girlfriend sitting outside alone about to light up a joint.
What is Maya's Connection to Jason?
It should be noted that Spencer saw Jason and Maya talking on the street. Spencer meets up with Jason after Maya leaves. She asks Jason why he came back and he tells his half-sister about the letters and $15,000 he found in a box hidden at his grandmother's house.
The next episode of "Pretty Little Liars" is entitled, "Breaking the Code."
There's trouble in the Hastings house and Spencer runs to Wren!
The opportunity for Ezra to go to New Orleans could very well push him away from Aria, which would definitely please Byron.
"A" has a new victim. Any ideas who that might be?
