In the new issue of Us Weekly (out Friday), Kelly Rutherford says she's preparing for the summer arrival of her second child with hubby Daniel Giersch and at the same time, breast-feeding 2-year-old son Hermes.

"It's an amazing bond with your child," says the Gossip Girl star, 40. "Some cultures do it up to five years, normally. I thought, 'Well, I'll just do it as long as it feels right for my son.'"

Find out who made Us Weekly's Babies of the Year list.

What's more, she says, "I was thinner after my pregnancy than before, and I think a lot of it was the nursing. They say it helps your body get back to shape in a natural way."

The bonding is definitely there from breast feeding...but i think until too is a bit much. Girlfriend is now doing it for own satisfaction and not her son.

There is no satisfaction I get from nursing my daughter at 19 month only the wonderful knowledge that not only have I given her the BEST start in life but I am reducing her risk of cancer in the future. Breastfeeding is a lost art and thank you Kelly for standing up for us! btw when we were all sick my doctor told me to give everyone the house a shot of milk and we got better. it is a living thing
