LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Kelis has filed for divorce from her husband of just over four years, hip-hop star Nas , a rep for the singer confirmed to Access Hollywood.

"I can confirm that she has filed for divorce," Kelis ' rep told Access. "We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."

The "Milkshake" singer filed for divorce on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences.

Kelis , who is pregnant with the couple's child, is asking for spousal and child support, according to TMZ.

Earlier this month in an interview with MTV News, Nas offered no hints that the couple's marriage was in trouble.

"She's great man. She's doing good," he said of his pregnant wife

In fact, he said the two were working on coming up with names for their first child together.

"Yeah, [we are deciding between] a few baby names," Nas told MTV. "It's kind of hard.

"I've been thinking about kinda putting something online: 'Choose his name,'" he continued with a smile. "You get a couple stacks for that. We take care of you for that. You win something real. But we're thinking now."

The couple tied the knot in Atlanta in January 2005.

    I think she's asking for a little too much there. I love Nas, and i like Kelis, but spousal support ya ain't been married that long come on your a working woman let not get greedy now b about your own girl and Nas your the baby.
