It's not easy being a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model. Just ask poor Kate Upton - her friends told her that she was too fat for the cover of the magazine, and she got majorly dissed by Victoria's Secret. To make matters even worse, her rumored boyfriend asked someone else to be his valentine on Valentine's Day. So are things as bad as they seem for Kate?
A week ago Victoria's Secret casting director Sophia Neophitou said that the lingerie company would never use the curvy blonde bombshell in a fashion show, describing Kate as being like "a footballer's wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy." Ouch!
While those words must certainly sting, Mrs. Neophitou might be singing a different tune now that Kate's become a superstar - the voluptuous beauty would surely get more viewers to tune in for the televised Victoria's Secret fashion show now that everybody knows her name (and how good she looks in a bikini).
And while the "footballer's wife" was a dig referring to the WAGs (wives and girlfriends) of soccer stars, Kate could become the wife of a different kind of football star.
There are rumors that she's dating New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, so if this true, should she be upset with Mark for sending someone else a valentine online?
Instead of congratulating Kate for her cover on Valentine's Day, he sent a photo of a box of shortbread cookies and the tweet "you want to be my valentine?" to someone very special. But luckily for Kate, the object of Mark's affection was his teammate Santonio Holmes, not Kim Kardashian.
Kate may not have to replace the man in her life just yet, but maybe she should consider getting new friends - according to the New York Post, her pals thought she was getting just a little too fat to be the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl. They worried that she was getting too much junk in the trunk after snacking on junk food like ice cream and French fries, so apparently they tried to stage a diet intervention. Luckily Kate showed them all that she could get her curves under control in time to land the cover. Her friends might seem like jerks for calling her too flabby, but maybe she loves them for being brutally honest with her.
That brutal honesty might sting a little when it comes to her budding movie career. She has a role in the upcoming "Three Stooges" movie as a nun, and the trailer looks absolutely terrible (the "Jersey Shore" cast appears in it). However, there's one big plus for Kate - by donning a skimpy swimsuit in the movie, she might just be the best thing about it.
So maybe being the life of a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl isn't so bad after all.
