HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. -- Colby Curtin had one wish before she died - to see Pixar's "Up."

According to the OC Register, the 10-year-old girl, diagnosed with vascular cancer three years ago, was too ill to visit a movie theater but wanted badly to see the animated film.

And thanks to a family friend's phone calls, the studio fulfilled Colby's last wish, bringing a DVD of the film to her family's Huntington Beach home on June 10.

The movie, a visual feast of colorful balloons and sky-high adventures, caught Colby's eye when she saw a preview for it at a screening of DreamWorks' "Monsters Vs. Aliens" in April, before her condition worsened.

On June 9, family friend Terrell Orum cold-called Pixar, who listened to Colby's story and sent someone over with a DVD the following day.

"Do you think you can hang on?" Colby's mother, Lisa Curtin, asked the young girl.

"I'm ready (to die), but I'm going to wait for the movie," Colby responded.

She died seven hours after watching "Up." She was with her mother and father.

According to the newspaper, Colby couldn't keep her eyes open to see the screen because of the pain, so her mother narrated what was happening as the movie played. The Pixar employee, who was not named, also brought stuffed animals of characters from the film and an "adventure book" scrapbook.

"I'll have to fill those adventures in for her," Lisa said.

Lisa told the newspaper the movie had been a source of comfort as the family plans for Colby's vigil.

"When I watched it, I had really no idea about the content of the theme of the movie," Lisa said. "I just know that word 'Up' and all of the balloons and I swear to you, for me it meant that (Colby) was going to go up. Up to heaven."
