PIC: Tyra Banks Graduates From Harvard Business School!

Tyra Banks has beauty and brains!

The America's Next Top Model creator and host graduated with a certificate from the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Friday, Us Weekly can confirm.

Banks, who dropped out of Loyola Marymount University to pursue modeling at age 17, enrolled in the prestigious program to better her brand.

    VIDEO: ANTM's wildest meltdowns

"In order for my company to grow and be the best, and to reach these women, and to serve them, I needed the best," the Bankable Productions CEO told CBS News in 2011. "So I went to the best."

Banks, now 38, admitted that her decision to pursue higher education was met with skepticism at first. "When people have low expectations, you're just constantly going, 'Ta-da!' And they're like 'Wow!'" she said. "It doesn't take a lot to wow them."

Prior to her Harvard education, Banks was lauded for being the first African American woman to appear on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The California native has appeared in a handful of films (Life-Size, Coyote Ugly) and hosted her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show, which ran from 2005-2010.

What a bunch of #$%$ Tyra didn't "graduate" from Harvard. She earned a certificate. In order to graduate from Harvard, you have to pusue a course load that typically takes four years to complete. If she goes around saying that she "graduated from Harvard" then she is engaging in deceit.

I agree but it could be that yahoo took her words out of context too. Yahoo becoming as bad as the national enquirer. Anyone with a bit of sense can see that is not a diploma, shes got to realize that.

Please tell me where these folks (commentators) get their "expertise" from? (Certainly not Harvard!) How can you critique yahoo, and retort back w/the same ignorance you slander? No references, sources.....we're just suppose to accept as fact that you two know better than yahoo; when a litte bit of research concerning the etymology of the word graduate, or do a little research and find that not all degrees awarded from Harvard are from 4 year programs renders your analyses ridiculous. At the very least haters....but no doubt the R word must also be considered...at least you have ignorant folks who agree with you...of which I am sure you are proud.....pathetic.

Apparently, someone only got their writer's "certificate."

Yahoo is not embarrassed... they have NO shame and their news is a joke!

@333: Not the news that is a joke (unless you count OMG and things like that), the WRITERS that are a joke. There's always at least 1 misspelling in their posts.

She did not graduate from Harvard - period. She took a course. Liek you take at Community College.
      • Markeetta 3 months ago
kim you just jelous because the only college you can get into is a community college
      • Libnuker 3 months ago
Neither one of you can spell.
      • Kim 3 months ago
How dare you. Simply stating facts. This is simply a course taken with a certificate granted - no pass-no fail. A degree takes much more than seven courses. Perhaps you are jealous because ebonics is not a language.

Don't be fooled by this article, she got a certificate for completing a program, she did not obtain a degree for graduating from Harvard. There is a huge difference.
      • Wise One 3 months ago
Wow! Can't get anything past you! Now where in this article does it say she graduated with a degree?
      • Eko 3 months ago
The article is entitled "Tyra Banks Graduates From Harvard Business School!" Graduation implies she got a degree from the business school at Harvard. It's misleading and makes it sound like she attended the college. All she did was complete a course offered by the business school and got a certificate. It's the same thing as someone completing CPR training and getting a certificate. The article deliberately attempts to mislead the reader into thinking she succeeded in something she didn't. Now go change your screen name because you certainly are not wise.

Certificate aint worth sshjit, its just a showboat move, get a real full degree..
    • myst  •  3 months ago
I find this article offensive. There is a HUGE difference between earning a certificate and graduating. This is an insult to anyone who has actually taken the time to get a college degree.
    • Chris  •  3 months ago
I was expecting a degree of some sort, not a certificate...

I'm not saying anything bad about Tyra (good for her) but this comment is about the brainless author of this ridicules article! She didn't graduate from Harvard; she completed a certificate program which is a program of education that results in a ‘Certificate of Completion’ rather than a degree.

Most people do know the difference between a a Certificate and a Degree, but, you can thank Yahoo News for blowing out of proportion and misleading people.
    • beenthere  •  3 months ago
SHE GOT A CERTIFICATE. IT'S NOT A DIPLOMA. SHE WAS AT THE SCHOOL FOR 2 WEEKS. GIVE ME A BREAK. DONT EMBARRASS THE PEOPLE THAT PUT IN 4 YEARS TO GET A DIPLOMA.
    • Tigerbears  •  3 months ago
I was curious, so went to the Harvard website and looked up the Owner/President Management Program that Tyra completed. The website claims that the certificate program is(in quotes) "presented in three-week sessions over three years." Yeah, the article is very misleading.

Hey - I received a certificate - for a free big mac - every college in America will send you a certificate for some achievement if you send them enough money.
    • Jeff N  •  Los Angeles, California  •  3 months ago
Apparently it takes a lot less to wow the admissions department at Harvard these days as well
    • John  •  3 months ago
I got a certificate. It is a certificate of authenticity from the franklin mint.
