Patrick Swayze's Widow Recreates Dirty Dancing Scene With His Wax Statue

Patrick Swayze's Widow Recreates Dirty Dancing Scene With His Wax Statue

    The time of their lives.

Patrick Swayze lost his battle with pancreatic cancer over two years ago -- and on Tuesday, a wax replica of the star's most iconic role was unveiled at Madame Tussauds wax museum in Hollywood.

    PHOTOS: Remembering Patrick Swayze

His widow, Lisa Niemi, was on hand for the unveiling of the wax twin, depicting Swayze's sexy scene in the 1987 film, in which his dance-instructor character, Johnny balances on a log and seduces  hotel guest Baby (Jennifer Grey).

Niemi, 55, joined her late husband's wax doppelganger on the log and posed for photos to recreate the iconic movie moment.

Swayze, 57 when he died on Sept. 14 in 2009, was married to Niemi for 34 years.

Niemi told Access Hollywood she was impressed with the Tussauds' artists work.

PHOTOS: Stars who have battled cancer

"He had this kind of mischievous, but confident look ... and things like his core (were) very, very strong and they worked on his arms more, so it's very detailed," she said. "There's a lot of work that goes into this."

    PHOTOS: Other celebs' wax twins

"In a way, it's really wonderful and exciting and everyone's in such a good mood here, and it's gonna be so fun to have this figure in the museum here, and at the same time it's bittersweet," she said. "I wish he were here, really here."

I don't get why people are finding this creepy. I think it is sweet. Not may stars stay together for as long as they were. She wants to remember the man she loved/loves.

You are right, not many stars stay together 34 weeks, much less 34 years.

Wonderful - and since they were married that long (as few today are) I am sure she does miss him terribly. Congrats on sharing him with us.

Hollywood has done something RIGHT! I only wish they trash the idea of remaking " Dirty Dancing". It is an insult to the memory Patrick Swayze for even getting that idea in their heads and going with it. I will not spend a dime on this remake nor Footloose. Remakes are for low intelligent people who have no original creativity for fresh new movies. Miss you Patrick , you will always be Johnny Castle!

I agree and disagree with you. Yes, Dirty Dancing, like some films (True Grit, for example) would be hard to remake properly. However, I am old enough and enough of a movie lover to know that many, many movies have been remade and many of them remade well. For exampe, Father of the Bride I & II with Steve Martin (Spencer Tracy, Elizabeth Taylor -Then # II was Father's Little Dividen); Perfect Murder with Michael Douglas (Dial M For Murder, Ray Milland, Grace Kelly); The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quad (Hayley Mill, Brian Keith); I Am Legend with Will Smith (Omega Man, Charlton Heston). I could go on and on...

MOST of the RE-MAKES these days are for LACK of CREATIVITY in the makers of movies in hollyweed.Yes,a FEW are good. But sadly, most are FLOPS.

At least this lady really loved her husband, she is still mourning for him. Now days if a couple makes it for any length of time in a marriage then one passes away ,they aren't even cold when you hear about the survivior getting remarried or shacking up ! Show some respect for her, I am sure that is what Mr. Swayze would want.

My husband has been gone a little over a yr, after 30 yrs together, and I still haven't taken my rings off.

Tradition used to be that a woman mourned for no less than a year. During the mid 19th century, she would wear no color clothing except for black...black jewelry as well. In public her face would be veiled. After a year she would start to wear colors such as gray, brown, earthy colors...nothing bright or showy. After a second year of this 'light' mourning, she could begin to entertain gentlemen callers...then, when appropriate(usually determined by an older male relative) she could entertain the idea of remarriage. As you can see from my picture, I am very fond of the old days...I wish it would remain that way. JMHO.

Still miss Patrick! I loved Dirty Dancing as did many people and it was a great choice, wishing his statue had been done when he was alive...I mean JLO has hers already! It is NOT creepy, they made a statue of him as they do all the famous stars and she was there, she was strong to be there, knowing their love story it was probably hard for her....she probably went home and cried, I know I would have..theirs was true love, what we all search for....

Gosh there are a bunch of jealous people in here...tsk tsk....no man can take Patrick's place..For those of you who are degrading Patrick: it's pathetic and very disrespectful. You should respect the deceased. Especially when they were kind, talented human beings.

Patrick Swayze molested young mexican boys while on vacation in Cancun.

What motivates a guy like Ray to write this sophomoric crap? Loneliness would be my first guess, but I just don't get it.

I remember an interview where he said he practiced each dance with his wife. Until then, the dance wasn't complete. A real man is one who is not afraid to tell the world how much he loves his wife.

I loved Patrick Swayze and I always will. He always seemed like such a gentle man but, at the same time he seemed very strong in his convictions, his commitments, his discipline and he seemed to have boundaries. I feel for Mrs. Swayze---she misses him so much. God bless her. It was a joy to watch him dance and even in other roles--'Ghost'---the grace he had dancing showed in the way he moved. Thank you for sharing him with the world Lisa.

Always loved Patrick . He should be honored, he fought the good fight, right up to the end. Lisa, maybe it helps knowing so many loved him, his dancing, and his heart. God Bless!
