Paris Hilton says she and sister Nicky have been texting longtime pal
DJ AM since his tragic
Learjet crash.
"I love him," she said Tuesday on
Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show.
As for his recovery process, "We didn't talk about that," Hilton said. "I just said, 'I wish you the best.'" But she said the DJ, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, did say "how scary" the crash was and that "he's just so lucky to be alive."
Since his release, she said Goldstein is in good spirits. (On Monday, he
attended a memorial service in Los Angeles for Chris "Lil' Chris" Baker, who died in the crash.)
"With all the love and support coming in, it really means a lot," Hilton said of her friend. "He's such a good person. I feel like God really did save him."
Hilton - who briefly dated
Travis Barker but has not spoken to him since the crash - said she was on a plane herself when she first heard the devastating news.
"I was ... just landing in from Milan. I was sitting with my manager, and he showed me the phone. I couldn't believe it," she said. "It's so scary."
Sometimes, Hilton said she has flown "in that type of plane, but now I will never go in one again. You never know what can happen!"
