American Idol contestant Alexis Grace hit a low note on Wednesday's show, with the four judges unanimously deciding to vote her off.

Grace, a 21-year-old single mother from Memphis, Tenn., also had the least number of viewer voters for her Tuesday performance of Dolly Parton 's "Jolene."

Judges toyed with the idea of vetoing her dismissal, but after a final performance, Simon Cowell declared, "It wasn't good enough. It's the end of the line I'm afraid."

Replied Grace, "I wish I could've done better. But, you know, things happen for a reason."

Grace's family looked devastated after she was ousted. Her mother was in tears and quickly hurried backstage with the rest of her family.

Grace cried as well, as Ryan Seacrest put an arm around her as she
watches her montage.

The 10 finalists remaining in the competition: Sarver, Iraheta, Adam Lambert , Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey , Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, Megan Corkrey and Scott MacIntyre.

On next Wednesday's show, the top 10 finalists will perform Motown tunes. Another finalist goes home next Thursday.

    OK this is why I do not watch this show. I have research and seen this girl and she was IS good. They got rid of her, and kept that squawking ghetto tattooed Barbie Megan. See Why is it Kelly Clarkson was the ONLY idol to be someone. The rest of the talent was sixth, third, fourth. Hang in there Alexis. I'll buy you cd DEATH TO SIMON!!! kiddin I actually like him.
