Kim Kardashian and her famous family scored a major public relations coup last night. The entire "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" family is a part of a new episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter" on OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network. The program on the budding network owned by the queen of talk has also profiled Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris Jackson. Winfrey showed up at the Kardashians front door to much buzz, jubilation and anticipation. The two-hour, multi-person interview will air in two parts.
Oprah kicked off the show with the children of the late Robert Kardashian. Kim was joined on the couch by her sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian Odom as well as her brother Rob. All of the siblings looked great but at nine months pregnant, Kourtney was positively glowing. Oprah asked the family if they would be as famous as they are if they all weren't so good looking. Khloe, who has struggled the most with her looks piped in with, "To be honest, probably not." She added that the fact that they are brunette beauties with curves, rather than the typical Barbie doll, also helps.
Ms. Winfrey also had a sit down with Kris Jenner. The two mostly discussed revelations from Kris' controversial memoir in which she reveals cheating on her former husband. Kris says that she got the idea for the series from watching "The Osbournes." Both Kris and Oprah called the MTV reality show that starred rocker Ozzy Osbourne, nor famous wife Sharon Osbourne and their kids Kelly and Jack, "the pioneer." Mrs. Jenner looked around at her wacky family and said, "We could do that!"
Kris was already shopping the reality show idea when Kim came to her with news of the sex tape. Kim confessed to her mother that a naked and explicit tape of her having sex with Ray J Norwood had leaked. Kris says that she reacted with love and support.
In one of the most poignant moments in the conversation, Oprah discussed the family's successes with Kris. After all, momager Kris is the mastermind behind the empire. Oprah asked the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch if she ever feels like she's exploiting her children. Oprah told her that people feel that she is pimping her kids. Kris emphatically stated that at any moment she only wants the best for her family. Her only regret in life is her divorce.
The first "Next Chapter" Kardashian episode completed with a one-on-one conversation with Kim, and will continue next week with talk of Kanye West.
