Four days after a South Carolina sheriff confirmed that Michael Phelps wouldn't be charged after caught on campera smoking pot, swimmer Ryan Lochte opens up to Usmagazine.com about his Olympic teammate.

Look back at Phelps' most amazing Olympic moments.

"He's a good friend of min, and he's a good teammate," Lochte told Us at the Tommy Hilfiger fashion show in NYC Thursday. "Everyone on the U.S. Olympic team, we're all going to support him no matter what."

He added: "Yeah, he messed up, but hopefully he'll learn from it. Hopefully everyone will learn from it."

Check out photos of Michael Phelps and other stars who have been bullied.

Phelps has apologized for his "regrettable" behavior in the photo -- taken during a November house party while Phelps was visiting the University of South Carolina. The picture was later published in Britain's News of the World.

The 14-time gold medalist was suspended for three months by USA Swimming and lost his Kellogg's endorsement deal.

Its not like he killed any one or was selling drugs or amything horrible, he just wanted to chill before he started training again. He wouldnt have been breaking all those records if he was a big druggie. I say give the guy a break, there are worse things he could have done. Ozzy Osbourne, Jack Nicolson, President Clinton, they all tried drugs and or were raging addicts, why are ppl h8n.

He is only "sorry" because he got caught. Phelps thought no one would ever find out. Notice he never admitted or apologized to smoking weed prior to those photos being published? Nope, he waited until everyone, including his sponsors saw and read the news. 3 months suspension was a just a little pat on the wrist for being bad. The US Swim Team needs him, they wouldn't dar
