Olympic Champ Lindsey Vonn Owes $1.7 Million in Back Taxes
Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn owes $1.7 million in delinquent federal taxes, the Detroit News reports.
The IRS filed a $1,705,437 tax lien against Vonn and her estranged husband, Thomas, on April 2 with Nevada's Elko County Recorder for 2010 — the year she won Olympic gold in downhill at the Vancouver Games.
In a statement on her Facebook page Sunday night, the 27-year-old, who earns money through her World Cup victories and endorsement deals, said she was disappointed by the news and vowed to pay the bill.

"I am disappointed with this situation. I just recently became aware of the outstanding balance and I have done everything in my power to settle it immediately," Vonn wrote. "The money owed was for the 2010 tax year, which was filed on time, and it has been paid in full. This is an important lesson for me. Not being in control of my finances and relying on someone else who you believed had your best interest at heart was a mistake and one I will not make twice."
Vonn, who announced her split from Thomas in November, earned $608,000 last season after winning 12 events and her fourth overall World Cup title.
