The octuplet's birth certificates were all signed by Nadya Suleman without any mention of a father, TMZ.com reports.
The birth certificates of the Octo Mom's first six children, however, have David Solomon listed as the dad on all but two. All 14 have Solomon's last name, according to
TMZ.
On each of the documents that Solomon signed, he listed a different date of birth. The Associated Press first reported that he alternated dates -- from 5/25/75 to 6/25/73 to 5/25/73 to 6/25/75 -- on each certificate and also listed Israel as his "State of Birth."
Two days before the certificates began circulating online, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors officially urged the state's Board of Medical Examiners -- the agency that licenses fertility doctors -- to investigate Suleman's case.
The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to request an investigation of the fertility doctor who helped Suleman give birth to eight babies last month.
See the day's top news photos."[We want them] to review protocols and make sure this doctor acted within the scope of his profession and his professional guidelines, and, if not, then determine if this doctor can be held liable -- civilly or criminally," Tony Bell, a spokesperson for LA County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, told Usmagazine.com Thursday.
The board hopes that such an investigation will take a fresh look at clinical ethics and standards in addition to the financial burden placed on the community as a result of this physician's actions.
"The doctor who treated this mother has placed the long-term health and safety of these infants in jeopardy," Antonovich said in a statement Tuesday.
In addition to looking into the doctor's liability, the board also requests an assessment of a prospective mother's psychological fitness to have multiple births.
Meet the octuplets!"[Find out] whether or not this woman should have been assessed, had a psychiatric evaluation before implantation," Bell said.
According to Dr. David Hill of the ART Reproductive Center in Beverly Hills, psychoanalysis is not mandatory.
"When I first began the field, which was back in the mid-80s, it was pretty routine to recommend that they have some psychological counseling just so they understand what the issues are," Hill told Us. "But its not a requirement."
Another concern of the LA County Board?
"Theres been a tremendous public outcry of people wanting to know how this could have happened and whos responsible for bringing eight to 14 tiny little souls into the world without the means to support them," Bell told Us. "The doctor -- did he act in a wanton and reckless manner by implanting that many embryos in a mother?"
Unlike the Board of Medical Examiners, the Department of Children and Family Services can't investigate Suleman's ability to care for her children based on public reports alone. It is prohibited by state law from any investigations without a legitimate claim.
"Someone has to file a report," Bell told Us. "Without one, they can't open [an investigation]."
Bell said Thursday that he was not aware of any such report being filed.
The Board of Medical Examiners will not release any information pertaining to an investigation at this time.
