No Sibling Rivalry Here! -- Stars Who've Shared Oscar's Red Carpet with Their Brother or Sister

Will any siblings attend The 84th Annual Academy Awards together?

The 84th Annual Academy Awards are swiftly approaching. With last week's announcement of the nominees, preparations are now in full swing all over Tinseltown. Dresses and tuxedos are being tailored, limos are being rented, and dates are being secured. For some stars though, the decision of who to take to the Oscars is a simple one; their siblings. Here now are some of the more notable instances of a celebrity attending the big night with their brother or sister.

Angelina Jolie - Angelina will forever wind up on lists like these not so much because of who she took in 2000, but how she behaved with him. She was up for a Best Supporting Actress award for her work in "Girl, Interrupted," and she wound up winning. It was the red carped smooching with brother James Haven that really made people perk up and pay attention. Add that to her thanking James in her acceptance speech, and it wasn't hard to figure out why those in attendance and watching at home were exchanging some sideways glances.

Penelope Cruz - When Cruz was nominated in 2007 for her work in "Volver," she turned to her sister Monica to accompany her. Both ladies were stunning-of course-in Versace gowns. Penelope's dress was even considered among the best of the night, making it onto nearly everyone's best dressed lists for the year. Penelope later used Monica as her body double for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" since Penelope was pregnant for a lot of the production.

Ryan Gosling - The same year the Sisters Cruz walked the red carpet together, so did A-lister Ryan Gosling and his sister Mandi. For bonus family points, Ryan and Mandi's mother also attended the show with them. That year in 2007 Gosling was nominated for Best Actor for his role in "Half Nelson." He lost that year to Forest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland."

Hailee Steinfeld - Hailee decided to take her brother and off-road racer Griffin as her date to what was probably the biggest night of her life up to that point. Though just 14-years-old at the time, Hailee was a nominee for Best Supporting Actress for her critically acclaimed performance in the Coen brothers' adaptation of "True Grit." She played Mattie Ross in the film. Most felt her performance really carried the picture at times, and she was considered a real contender for the award though she lost out to Melissa Leo.

Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal - Okay, yes, we're cheating on this one. As far as we can tell the two have never attended the Oscars as each other's dates, but they have attended the Oscars ceremony together. In 2010 both Maggie and Jake were in attendance together as Maggie was up for a trophy in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance in "Crazy Heart." Jake of course had been nominated four years earlier for his role in "Brokeback Mountain."
