LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Nicollette Sheridan 's character, Edie Britt, is about to meet her demise on "Desperate Housewives," but the blonde star isn't losing any sleep over it.

"I said, 'OK, sayonara. It's been a great ride. Thank you,'" the actress told the new issue of TV Guide of her departure from the ABC show.

Nicollette told the magazine that a real person in the life of creator Marc Cherry is likely responsible for her character's death.

"Somebody up there really wanted her dead. I think whoever Edie represented in Marc's life was somebody he didn't like," Nicollette said. "And he had a very difficult time distinguishing between fact and fiction."

But Marc said Edie's exit had more to do with the character having run amuck on Wisteria Lane.

"Edie's already slept with most of the guys on the street and has caused about as many problems as she could," Marc said.

It is unknown if he will replace Edie with another gal on the street, but if he does, she won't be of the same ilk.

"We will find a new kind of sexiness coming through Wisteria Lane," he said. "What I won't do is cast another forty something sexy blonde... [Nicollette] performed the aging neighborhood tramp better than anyone has ever done before."

As for Nicollette, she thinks the show lost somewhat of its edge, awhile ago.

"When the show started it was such a different beast," she said. "It was exciting and dangerous and funny and edgy and bizarre. It started feeling a little complacent and that was very frustrating."

Nicollette's final episode airs Sunday, April 19 on ABC.

they say her character run amuk however, the writers made her run amuk so maybe nicollette is correct and it symbolized someone real and they couldn't deal with her anymore, however, nicolette's part was getting boring, but then agian the show has fallen of the charts a few seasons ago

That was a great gig, she knows that. All good things, especially on TV, must come to their end. She will be in something else soon.

She's great on that show. I love her character and she plays it so well. The show will be boring without her! :(
