Think Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are getting along on the set of "American Idol"? Think again. Cameras caught Minaj in a verbal tirade against her judging table partner - and the "Bees in the Trap" rapper even allegedly threatened to "knock [Carey] out."
The whole thing went down in Charlotte, N.C. on Tuesday afternoon. Cameras captured the meltdown laced with plenty of expletives.
"Get this s**t in self-control. Get in control. Get in control," Minaj shouts as fellow judge Randy Jackson tells her to "settle down." Country singer Keith Urban clearly looks annoyed by his co-judge's freakout, judging from his body language.
"Don't lose your head. Don't tell me I'm a gangster! So every time you patronize me, I'm-a take it back, and if you've got a f***ing problem, handle it!" Minaj directed at Carey, according to TMZ.
"I told them, I'm not f***ing putting up with her f***ing highness over there. I'm not gonna sit here every f---ing minute to have you come down and harass me every minute every day."
Carey is saying something in the background of the video, but it's not clear what she's saying.
Yikes! The whole situation reportedly stemmed from a disagreement between Minaj and Carey over an audition. If we had to guess, we'd say Carey dismissed Minaj's judgment, leading the Trinidad-born rapper to respond to the diss. But, that's just an assumption.
What we do know for sure: The love-hate relationship between the two pop divas has been going on for a while.
First Rumblings of a Feud
Fans were genuinely surprised when Minaj was added to the judge's table, especially since the show already had a huge diva in Carey. Ryan Seacrest and "Idol" producers tried to squash concerns by showing the judges together and smiling.
"It's official, your new #IdolJudges are @MariahCarey, @NickiMinaj, @KeithUrban & @Yo_RandyJackson!" Seacrest posted on Instagram, along with a photo of the "family."
It didn't take long for feuding rumors to develop, though. "Insiders" said the pair was fighting during their first auditions together in New York City.
Deny, Deny, Deny
The judges immediately denied any problems in paradise.
"How are we gonna feud in two days? A feud takes a little longer to spread out [than that]," Carey told MTV News on Sept. 17.
Sources later told US Weekly that producers created feud rumors to boost interest.
"The whole Mariah and Nicki beef is completely untrue. It's just a desperate attempt to boost ratings," an insider told the magazine.
Doesn't sound like such a made-up thing now, does it?
Do you think Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are really feuding?
