Nicki has previously taken digs at Mariah by calling her "sir" and "Honey Boo Boo," so Mariah exacted her revenge on May 1. She dissed Nicki by pointing out that the female rapper has never reached the No. 1 position on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart. Minaj couldn't think of a suitable insult on the spot, so she later retaliated on Twitter by writing, "All dem #1s but Jlo phone ringin? I guess having a personality, being a secure woman, and giving genuine critique still trumps that." The rapper was referencing reports that "American Idol" producers considered replacing Mariah with Jennifer Lopez because of falling ratings, but reps for Fox have denied these rumors. Nicki went on to label Mariah "bitter" and "insecure."
But Nicki Minaj better watch her back, because Mariah Carey has plenty of experience when it comes to dealing with ugly feuds. This one isn't the worst that she's endured; in fact, we're kind of hoping that she responds to Nicki's tweets the same way she responded to Eminem back when he wouldn't quit running his mouth about Mariah.
In 2002, Eminem revealed that he and Mariah were once in a relationship by rapping about it in his songs "Superman" and "When The Music Stops," but Mariah denied his claims. The rapper responded by playing alleged voicemails from Mariah that supported his allegations during some of his 2005 concerts. Mariah = fired back in a rather humorous fashion -- she took a page from Eminem's own playbook by dressing up like him in her music video for "Obsessed." The song is about the rapper's fixation on the diva, and the music video features an Eminem-like character stalking Mariah before meeting a violent end.
Maybe Mariah will respond to Nicki in a similar manner. We'd love to see her throw on a pink wig to play Nicki's alter ego Harajuku Barbie in a parody music video. And if she needs a little help poking fun at the female rapper, Lil' Kim would probably be more than happy to help -- she and Nicki have their own ugly ongoing feud. Lil' Kim could also help Mariah write a Nicki diss track since she's written one before -- her "Black Friday" is a play on the title of Nicki's "Pink Friday."
However, since Nicki and Eminem have worked together before, Slim Shady would probably love to throw some shade Mariah's way again by teaming up with her mortal enemy to respond to the diss track.
So would you like to see Mariah making fun of Nicki in "Obsessed Part 2," or do you think that a Nicki and Eminem diss track would be better?
