Nicki Minaj has critiqued her last "American Idol" contestant! The rapper's gig with the Fox reality show is reportedly done following the Season 12 finale, with an insider telling Us Weekly she'll be focusing on her own music and endorsement deals.
Minaj recently told MTV News, "I may be working on something right now. I can't really say too much about it, but I definitely have the acting bug. That was my first love, so you just never know."
That "something" is a role in the upcoming Cameron Diaz movie, "The Other Woman." Minaj will play Cameron's law firm assistant in the comedy flick.
Then there's her upcoming studio album. The usually pink-happy rapper is talking about going in another direction and dropping the "Pink Friday" title from her next album.
She recently said, "At this point I don't even know if I want to include the word pink … the Pink Friday, it's like a great chapter and I love it. It represents great things, but I really want to start a new era… I just don't know. I want to see where the music takes me first."
The hip hop star's passion for fashion was evident on this season's "Idol" (she often critiqued the contestants' outfits, shoes, and 'dos), and now her very own fashion line is coming soon to a Kmart near you. The line will include hoodies, wild patterned leggings, dresses, swimwear, and accessories.
The rapper is also slated to appear at this Sunday's Billboard Music Awards, where she'll team up with Chris Brown for a performance. She's also nominated in seven categories, including Top Female Artist. (She's up against such mainstream artists as Adele, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna.)
In fact, Minaj is so busy with other projects that she's already said she won't have time to tour this year. According to MTV, she recently dished, "I don't think I can. I really would love to, but I don't think I'll have the time, because I'm also going to be launching a few products this year that I'm really going to have to lend myself to the clothing line, I have a drink that's about to come out and these new speakers... So I have a lot of things that the business side of me has to work on, and I also want to be here so I can write. I obviously am going to start working on the third album very, very soon. I'm getting beats as we speak. I just haven't started writing, but that's my biggest priority at this point."
Meanwhile, Nicki's not the only "Idol" judge who's moving on to other things.
Longtime judge Randy Jackson has already announced that he's stepping down from the show next season, while Mariah Carey's husband, Nick Cannon, recently talked about his wife's "Idol" stint in the past tense.
"My wife is the biggest superstar in the world," Cannon told Life & Style, "I know she had a wonderful time on 'Idol'… I know my wife is so focused on her real career of being a singer and her new album that is coming out, which is incredible."
But Keith Urban told backstage press reporters he'd come back next season if he's asked. According to Yahoo! Music the Australian country singer said, "I would, yeah! I mean, I literally enjoyed coming to work every day. And that's a rarity."
