Given her storied career and talent at interviewing celebrities, Barbara Walters doesn't have a whole lot of enemies. In fact, criticizing the TV icon almost seems unfathomable. However, no one told Nicki Minaj anything about that. The "American Idol" judge lashed out at Barbara after "The View" host took Mariah Carey's side in their now-infamous feud. Nicki claims that Barbara never bothered to ask about her side of the feud, and brought up some dirty laundry in the process. "You wasn't even there when I was on the show, Barbara," Nicki said. "So I guess I'm not good enough, but I'm only good enough for you to tell people that I'm unpredictable when you don't f***ing know me!" Say what you will about Nicki, but taking a shot at Barbara is a pretty bold move. Here are a few of the rare instances in which the "20/20" interviewer has been on the wrong end of criticism.
You can't be surprised about anyone that Donald might feud with, so it's probably not too much of a shock that he had a war of words with Barbara. After Donald made a video claiming that he would donate $5 million to charity if Barack Obama produced certain records, Barbara called him out. The reality star, who has frequently appeared on "The View," took to Twitter to respond. After saying that Barbara missed the point, Donald tweeted, "@BarbaraJWalters, @theviewtv will apologize to me just like she did when I was right about @Rosie. Besides, I get great ratings on The View."
Barbara found herself in an awkward situation last year when she drew the wrath of co-host Sherri Shepherd. Barbara used the N-word in a news context while conversing with her hosts, and mentioned how awkward it made her feel to say it. However, Sherri still took issue with the whole thing. "I didn't like the way you said it," she said. "I don't know if it's a semantics thing, but it's something that goes through my body." Sherri also told Barbara that she was offended since it was a white person saying the term.
The Twitter WorldDuring the London Olympics, Barbara drew some fire after she insulted Queen Elizabeth's smiling ability. In addition to that, Barbara also criticized the Queen's wardrobe, and mentioned that she appears as if she came out of the 19th century. That led to a major backlash on Twitter, where people all over the world posted angry comments directed at the host. Said one angry viewer, "Who is Barbara Walters to criticize the Queen for being stoic during the opening ceremony? Newsflash: The Queen does what she wants, biotch!"
