LOS ANGELES, Calif. (December 18, 2007) Justin Bruening, the star of NBC's "Knight Rider" movie was hurt last Friday while filming the TV movie update of the popular 1980s show.

Bruening injured his knee so badly he needed hospitalization according to a rep for NBC, who issued an exclusive statement to Access Hollywood.

"Justin Bruening, who stars in the upcoming NBC movie 'Knight Rider,' experienced a knee injury Friday afternoon while filming a fight scene," a NBC publicity rep said in the statement. "He was taken to the hospital and was treated and released. He's in good spirits and is looking forward to returning to work soon."

Bruening has been filming the two-hour movie, based on original series that launched David Hasselhoff to stardom.

The new version of the trademark "Knight Rider" KITT car was unveiled on NBC's Burbank lot last week.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, David Hasselhoff will appear in the new movie, set to premiere in February, in his original role of Michael Knight.

The movie stars Deanna Russo, as Sarah Graiman, the daughter of the man who invented the original KITT car. Justin Bruening stars as Mike Tracer, Sarah's childhood best friend. Sarah recruits Mike to help search for her missing father with the help of the famous talking car. KITT, the talking super car, will be voiced by funnyman Will Arnett of "30 Rock," "Arrested Development" and "Blades of Glory" fame.

Bruening previously starred as Jamie Martin, alongside Susan Lucci and Cameron Mathison, in ABC's long-running soap, "All My Children."

There is no reason why they should have a MUSTANG as KITT. It is a load of crap, and a spit in the face of every person that watched the show. KITT was a TRANS AM. I am boycotting the show just because of that. I am a huge Hoff fan, but I will not support and FORD to take the place of a TRANS AM. No replacement. They should have waited to use that to unveil the new TA. Screw NBC for selling out GM

  • The original KITT sounded so gay."Oh Michael, I really don't think we should go down this alley, there might be bad guys down there." One of the worst shows ever IMO, a remake HAS to be better.

The original was a pontiac, they should have stayed with a pontiac. The Hoff should have also done the new role, but I agree, it would have been more interesting to follow the original KITT after auction. The only people interested in this will be those of us who watched the original series, and can not understand why it simply is not a newer version of the original. Settle the strike!!!!!!!!
