New Disney 'Pirates,' 'Muppet,' Beatles Movies Announced At D23 Expo

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie will sail into theaters in Summer 2011.

The film will be titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," Disney announced at the company's D23 Expo in Anaheim on Friday. Johnny Depp has previously announced he will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.

The company also announced the next film in the dormant Muppets franchise - "The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made."

Jason Segel, who memorably included a muppet Dracula musical at conclusion of his movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," will write the film. The title stems from a planned 1985 Muppet film that never went into production, which was to feature the character Gonzo's wild attempts at directing a feature film.

And with Beatlemania back in full swing this week with the arrival of the band's remastered catalog and the video game "Beatles Rock Band," Disney chairman Dick Cook also announced that Walt Disney Studios would develop a 3D adaptation of the Fab Four's animated movie, "Yellow Submarine," which will be written and directed by Robert Zemeckis. The original 16 Beatles songs and recordings will be included.
