Neil Patrick Harris is opening up about making his relationship official with longtime beau David Burtka.

"I think if and when we do, we'd probably announce it after the fact as opposed to making any big announcement," Harris, 35, says in the September issue of Out magazine.

Check out celebrity wedding photos.

The How I Met Your Mother star has been with the actor, 33, since 2004.

"We both wear rings, and I'm giddy when I see all the pictures of people so happy standing there, confirming the love they wish they could have expressed for a long time," he explains.

"I'm a big proponent of monogamous relationships regardless of sexuality, and I'm proud of how the nation is steering toward that," he adds.

Harris said being outed by the media in November 2006 "was tricky."

"Part of the coming-out process is figuring out who you like and what that means, and how to act on it," he explains. "Being an actor reduced my level of anonymity."

"I couldn't just go to some bar and walk in and ask someone out on a date," he adds. "If I had any regret it would be that strange lack of anonymity that created panic within myself that I would be found out."

Harris also revealed his celebrity crush: CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.

"Just dreamy ... I've been a fan of him since season one of The Mole," he says. "I just thought he was so cool when he talked in this cool, low, secret-agent voice."

iam SOO tired of reading these religious comments. what cracks me up is these so called "religious" people are so quick to judge homosexuality as a sin. But these are the same people who are drinking, have premarital sex, probably doing some sort of drug and other sins as well. Isnt judging another human being a sin also? Arent all sins created EQUAL!!!! GET A LIFE!!! Iam G

Colleen B, the population is going to drop real soon. We are heading a time when no amount of money will buy you food or protection from anarchy. We need to turn to Jesus and repent of our sins before His soon return.

I'm not sure how I feel about "gay marriage" as my beliefs state marriage is a sacred bond between a Man and a Woman.... that said, I do think it is a good thing that such a public figure is supporting monogamy in a world where people seem to think it's okay to just "get laid" with no commitment. So... Mr. Harris, congrats and I wish you two the
