Neil Patrick Harris Interview: How He’ll Spend the Super Bowl

When the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants at Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, Neil Patrick Harris will be cheering one of the teams on, but not because he's a big fan. Harris, who's an invited guest of CBS president Les Moonves, revealed that the choice is much more practical.

"Seeing that the box that I'm in is gonna be pro-Patriot, I'm gonna head to that direction so I'm not kicked out of where I'm sitting," Harris told omg! in an interview. "But I do co-reside in Harlem. New York is in my neighborhood, so I support it."

After growing up in New Mexico, where he played tennis in high school, and then moving to L.A. -- cities without their own NFL team -- NPH said he's rarely watched football games live. He's more likely to be checking them out on TV, where he can watch instant replays and the analysts' notes. The "How I Met Your Mother" star had a fantasy football team for a few years but quit when he realized he was becoming so obsessed with each player's individual performance that he wasn't really paying attention to the actual games!

Well, most everyone will be paying attention to this weekend's matchup, whether or not they're sports fans. They'll be checking out the halftime performance by Madonna as well as the much buzzed-about commercials, one of which will feature a product Harris is promoting -- M&Ms. Earlier this week in L.A., he introduced a new M&Ms character, Ms. Brown, although he noted that his favorite color of the chocolate candies is "green for obvious reasons."

INFDaily.com After the Super Bowl, the 38-year-old will return to his CBS sitcom gig playing the womanizing Barney Stinson. Harris insisted that even seven seasons into "HIMYM," and after becoming quite the family man himself, with fiance David Burtka and 2-year-old twins Gideon and Harper at home, he still enjoys playing someone's who's the opposite of settled. But does he think Barney will ever stop playing the field? "There's no way for me to know," NPH said. "I'm aware of a little bit of information, but we still have a whole season and a half yet left to go. It doesn't seem like it's in his DNA to settle down for long."

Harris explained that while he signed an eight-year contract at the beginning of the show's run, he would probably be willing to stay on longer. "I would love to do it for as long as they would have us and with that being said, for as long as it's still funny and still makes sense," he said. "I'm pretty convinced that as the years pass we'll all look back on this job as one of those great, once-in-a-lifetime jobs."

Catch Neil Patrick Harris in "How I Met Your Mother" at 8 p.m. ET/PT Mondays on CBS.

Apparently M&M's and the undivided attention of outdoor mall shoppers gives this guy a bone in his pants too... Which is exactly why that baby sitting on his lap has an uncomfortable expression.
