Natalie Cole finally got a kidney transplant Tuesday.
The "Unforgettable" singer is "resting comfortably" after going under the knife at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.
The kidney was received via a donor from the regional organ procurement agency, One Legacy.
See the day's best celeb photos.The Grammy-Award winner, who suffers from Hepatitis C, had been receiving kidney dialysis three times a week since September while she continued her world tour.
Her physicians have advised her to postpone summer tour dates as she recuperates for the next three to four months.
In February, Cole -- daughter of legendary singer Nat King Cole -- told
Entertainment Tonight she "wasn't looking forward" to surgery because she'd have to take time off work.
But she was positive about her prognosis.
"Things happen for a reason, I've always been kind of a survivor type of girl," she said. "I'm strong, I have a lot of faith. I'm looking forward to having a good year. In spite of the health issues, I think I'm going to be fine."
