Klieg lights race across the sky, paparazzi and eager fans gather on the corners and sleek Audi A8L sedans roll up to the curb: it's obviously time for the Fourth Annual Audi Pre-Golden Globes Awards Party!
It always happens at Cecconi's restaurant in West Hollywood, on the Sunday exactly a week before the Globes (January 6 in 2013). And it is always a very hot ticket, if just for the chance to sample the black truffle flatbread pizza that is always served. But the real draw is the convivial atmosphere, as Audi transforms the place, with a large outdoor tent and a dance floor space set up inside.
"I don't go to many parties," admitted "Treme" star Wendell Pierce, who also stars in the new action flick "Parker" opposite Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham. "But this one is really something special. I just said hi to Liev Schreiber a minute ago! How cool is that?"
Pierce will surely be seen all over town in the next month, as he is an Independent Spirit Awards Best Actor nominee for "Four"; those prizes are given out the day before the Oscars. And he'll probably see a lot of Schreiber, as Naomi Watts (that actor's significant other) is racking up nominations already for her performance in "The Impossible," including a Globes nod. That happy couple hung out on one of the inside banquettes, where Kate Bosworth (who looked fantastic in an Emilio Pucci little black dress) and her fiancé, director Michael Polish, joined Watts and Schreiber for a long chat.
Outside, "Nashville" bombshell and Globes nominee Connie Britton wowed in a fire-engine-red Black Halo Eve strapless gown; she took the best (if slightly over-the-top) dressed star of the evening. The "Breaking Bad" guys looked good, too, as Bryan Cranston met up with Giancarlo Esposito, then got into a deep conversation with "Modern Family" favorites Julie Bowen and Eric Stonestreet.
We also spotted Julie Benz sliding through in the packed party, along with Chord Overstreet, Anthony Mackie, Maggie Q, Lance Reddick, handsome Scott Elrod from the much-nominated film "Argo," and pretty Jeri Ryan, too. And the later it got, the more people started dancing, running to the outdoor patio for a quick smoke or jumping into the instant photo booth with gangs of friends. All in all, another Audi party to remember!
