What’s in a Name? Celebrity Kids’ Nicknames

Celebrities are known for giving their kids unusual names -- Hollywood tots have been named everything from Apple (Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter) to Zuma Nesta Rock (Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's son).

But just like the rest of us, some celebs have come up with cute (or, in some cases, not so cute!) nicknames for their kids. Check out this rundown of celebrity kids' nicknames.

    "Coconuts" Anthony

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony may have named their twins Max and Emme, but J-Lo likes to call them "The Coconuts." So where did the nickname come from? According to Hollybaby, J-Lo said, "Because every morning when I go get them, they have this little fuzzy hair, they look exactly like a coconut. I'm like 'You're a little coconut!' And so it stuck." The pop star regularly tweets about her babies, too. Recent tweet: "Me and the coconuts put our milk and cookies under tree for Santa!!" Now we just have to wonder, was it coconut milk?

    Blanket Jackson

Many people think the story of Michael Jackson's youngest son's nickname came from the infamous 2002 incident when the then-proud papa dangled his newborn son over a hotel balcony while covering his face with a blanket. But according to the book "Michael Jackson: The Magic, The Madness, The Whole Story," Jackson himself once explained his son's name by saying, " It's an expression I use with my family and my employees. I say, 'You should blanket me or you should blanket her', meaning like a blanket is a blessing. It's a way of showing love and caring." The child's name is actually Prince Michael II -- his big bro is also named Prince Michael -- so a nickname is probably a good thing.

    Roc and Roe Cannon

Pop star Mariah Carey's twins are named Moroccan and Monroe: Moroccan is named after the Moroccan-inspired room where hubby Nick Cannon proposed to her and Monroe is named after Marilyn Monroe. During an interview with Barbara Walters on ABC's "20/20," the couple dished about the twins' nicknames: Roc and Roe. (You know, like rock and roll?) The couple also made sure that Mariah's live version of "Fantasy" was playing in the delivery room when she delivered them via c-section because, said Mariah, "I wanted them to hear the applause upon entering the world." Sounds like a rockin' time to us!

Monkey, Buggy and Hattie Cat McDermott

Fans of Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott's reality show, "Home Sweet Hollywood" are privy to the cutesy nicknames they have for their kids, Liam and Stella: Liam has long been called Monkey, while Stella's nickname is Buggy, after a ladybug. (The couple even had a money-themed party for Liam's first birthday and a lady bug-themed party for Stella's!) But those nicknames are old hat. Newest McDermott baby, Hattie Margaret, has a nickname of her own-thanks to her clever sibs. On Spelling's ediTORIal blog, the new mama dishes that Liam and Stella have nicknamed their baby sis Hattie Cat. Is that anything like the Cat in the Hat?
