The stars were sparkling at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, with a number of Hollywood's finest putting their best bling forward to walk the red carpet and catch the awards ceremony. While the laid-back atmosphere is a far cry from the Academy Awards, the evening still held a few jaw-dropping, eye-popping moments that were worthy of a double take...or three. Here's a quick list of some of the night's biggest shockers.
Russell Brand's Opening
Granted, Russell Brand is the type who most people either really love or really hate, but his opening monologue left even the audience members with raised eyebrows. After dissing Ray-J's performance in Kim Kardashian's sex tape, he thanked Kim for having an even shorter marriage than he did. His most tasteless joke of the night was another cheap shot at ex-wife Katy Perry, saying "Last time I did an MTV show I ended up marrying someone. Tonight I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for my next wife."
Best Dirtbag Award Presentation
"Ted" costars Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg presented the award for "Best On-Screen Dirtbag," but felt obliged to apologize for their scripted presentation speech. Calling Albert Einstein, Mother Theresa, and Bono "huge dirtbags," Kunis said, "Oh my God, I'm sorry!" while Wahlberg muttered, "I didn't write this, by the way. I'm reading the teleprompter." We're guessing they won't be presenting next year.
Best Dirtbag Award Recipient
Call us crazy, but Jennifer Aniston doesn't come close to making our top-10 list of biggest dirtbags. Nevertheless, she graciously accepted her Golden Popcorn award for her role in "Horrible Bosses." Looking hot in a black leather mini, Aniston said, "I'd like to say thank you to the television show 'Friends' for letting me unleash my inner sweetheart, and here's to [director] Seth Gordon for allowing me to be a dirtbag."
Best Kiss Award Acceptance
"Twilight" actress Kristen Stewart accepted the Best Kiss award for the fourth time, but her costar and real-life boyfriend Robert Pattinson couldn't make the ceremony. The good-humored K-Stew said, "Rob's not here you guys! I don't really know what to do!" She then playfully called to Taylor Lautner and her "Snow White and the Huntsman" costars Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth to "help a girl out" with a kiss. When nobody appeared, she quipped, "It's ok, because I actually do pretty well by myself." She then turned her back to the audience, wrapped her arms around her body, and pretended to make out with herself.
Best Transformation Acceptance
Actress Elizabeth Banks got an award - and a lap dance - for her performance as Effie Trinket in the film, "Hunger Games." "Magic Mike" stars Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey presented the award, but were joined by "True Blood" hunk Joe Manganiello, dressed in a fireman stripper costume (bare chested!) and wielding a rather phallic-like axe. After a few minutes of humping, grinding, and groping, Banks thanked her husband, whom she said, "Is really upset right now, probably." Thanks for the show, guys!
