"I was a fan of both his work and a fan of him as a person. The world has lost not only a quintessential filmmaker whose influence will be felt for generations, but a great and decent man."

--Macaulay Culkin, star of the "Home Alone" series

"This is a horrible tragedy. He was an amazing man to work for and with. He respected young actors in a way that made you realize you had to step up your game because you were playing in the big leagues now. That's why he got such great performances out of his actors. My heart goes out to his wife Nancy and their children."

  • Hello, it's me!
Very sad. His movies had a big impact on me because I was a teen in the '80's.

This is truly sad news, John Hughes had a way of knowing how to touch young adults with his characters. You either knew a kid like that or you were that kid up on the screen. These films come out as I was leaving High School nearly 28 yrs ago but these classics are timeless only fashions and trends have changed. Thank-you John for making my High School years easier to bare.

I'm completely blown away :(. He was, in my mind, one of the greatest directors ever! I've probably seen all of his movies and loved each and every one. But, he hit the nail on the head with Pretty In Pink. It was as if my life was being acted out in a motion picture. Gosh, he could totally relate to how cruel high school kids can be. My heart goes out to his family.
