Mindy Kaling might have a new show coming out, but she's earning headlines for taking on a cartoon character from "The Simpsons." In a recent photo shoot for Glamour magazine, the star of the upcoming "The Mindy Project" dressed up like Marge Simpson. The actress nailed every detail for the shoot, from the crazy blue hair to the trademark pearls. "Marge Simpson is the one who's really funny," said the star and admitted fan of the long-running animated hit. "Her character looks so crazy, but then she's supposed to be totally demure. I think Matt Groening is a genius for giving her that hair." The funny pictures are sure to generate Katy donned buzz, but Mindy isn't the first celeb to dress up like a cartoon character. Here are a few other stars that did the same.
In 2009, the "Sin City" actress channeled Dora the Explorer for her Halloween costume. She sported Dora's trademark hair, shirt, and backpack for the Halloween celebration. To add to the fun, husband Cash Warren dressed as Dora's cartoon cousin Diego. It's easy to see where the two drew inspiration for their combined costume effort. Their daughter Honor was less than 2 years old at the time, and was apparently a big fan of the show.
The singer didn't have to work too hard to dress up as Jessica Rabbit, the surprisingly gorgeous wife of the title character from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" During a 2010 USO show, Katy donned the shiny red dress that Jessica made famous in that movie. Unfortunately, she wasn't as detail-oriented as Mindy or Jessica. Instead of dying her hair red like the character, Katy had black locks during the show.
In 1995, the Scottish singer drew headlines when she dressed up like Disney icon Minnie Mouse for the Grammys. In addition to that, Annie also sported the look in the music video for her version of "Waiting in Vain." The short-haired icon was seen wearing the famous mouse ears along with a short black dress similar to one that Mickey's love would wear. This look remains as one of the most memorable in her storied career.
