Here's a look at what we learned from Miley's conversation with Matt Lauer.
Miley Doesn't "Plan" To Offend Anyone
Matt referenced Miley's description of her controversial VMA performance as a "strategic hot mess" and asked her if it had been her plan all along to do something that would get people talking. She responded, "I don't ever really plan to offend people, but sometimes that just happens because I think people, they're not open to what they don't understand. But that's why what I'm doing is for my fans, because they're all really young, so they understand what I'm doing."
Still, she admits that her VMA performance went as planned because a month later, people are still talking about it.
Miley Will Stop Being Sexual When She Turns 40
From her VMA performance, to her provocative photos, to her naked "Wrecking Ball" video, the "We Can't Stop" singer has been expressing herself in an increasingly sexual manner. Is this just a phase? Or is this something that will continue?
Miley responded, "Well I heard when you turn 40 things start to go a little less sexual. So probably around 40. Around that time. I heard that's when people don't have sex anymore so I guess maybe around then."
When Lauer told her that he was 55, she joked, "Oh, well, then you're really definitely not sexual."
Miley Has No Regrets
When Lauer asked if she would change anything from the past, she responded no. "I can't change anything. I can't go back. I can do a lot of things, but I can't change the past. Nothing. Anything I can't control I don't really think about. I just live my life … and I don't really regret anything."
The "Wrecking Ball" singer says she has not found it difficult to make the transition from child star to adult performer. As she explained, "This is just, like, who I am. I think it's only hard if you're trying to be something you're not. Being who you are is really easy if you're really true to that."
Miley Respects Sinead O'Connor, Baffled By Ongoing Feud
Miley also seemed a bit baffled by her ongoing feud with Sinead O'Connor. As she commented, "If you want to know my thoughts, I think she's an incredible artist. I think she's an awesome songwriter, and I was really inspired by her for my 'Wrecking Ball' video, which is what started the whole thing. I don't know how someone can start a fight with somebody who said, 'Hey, I really respect you. And I really love what you did.' 'You know what? You suck! I don't like you.' That was kind of crazy. But as I said, I'm a big fan of hers, so it doesn't really matter."
Miley Credits Her Parents For Being So Loving and Accepting
No matter what happens in her career or her personal life, Miley's parents will always be there for her.
As she explained, "For me, my parents have always been about really being who you are and figuring that out. And what's good about that is I trust them a lot, so I can go to them with pretty much anything. A lot of kids have to hide things from their parents that I don't have to. My parents are accepting. That's what real love is, is unconditional. And that means it doesn't depend on what you're doing. That means they love you no matter what, and that's what parents are supposed to be."
