A few days after Mick Jagger's phenomenal performance at the 2011 Grammys, rumors were flying on Twitter that he had died.
Not to worry - the rumors were false. The 67-year-old Mick Jagger is very much alive and well - and, as we saw on the Grammys, kicking, dancing, and strutting. Seeing Jagger looking so spry on the Grammy broadcast made me wonder what else he's been up to lately. This is what I found out:
Jagger has been knighted. He is worth about $310 million dollars. He has been with his fashion-designer girlfriend, the 6-foot-4-inch L'Wren Scott, for nine years. He's not up for getting married again, though. In December, 2010, he told theNew York Times Magazine, "To be honest, I don't really think much of marriage. I'm not saying it's not a wonderful thing and people shouldn't do it, but it's not for me."
A couple of Jagger's seven children have been in the news recently. His 39-year-old daughter Jade Jagger will be designing homes for a new luxury project in the suburbs of Mumbai, India. His 19-year-old daughter Georgia May Jagger wants to be a wildlife photographer.
And then there was all the embarrassing banter, splashed across the media, about Jagger's man parts. First, Keith Richards wrote in his autobiography that Jagger had a "tiny todger," which he claimed ex-girlfriend Marianne Faithfull, "had no fun with." He also wrote that Jagger had "an enormous pair of [you-know-whats] - but it doesn't quite fill the gap."
Then Jagger's ex-wife Jerry Hall responded by saying that, on the contrary, Jagger was "well-endowed" and that Richards was just jealous. Ex-girlfriend Marianne Faithfull chimed in, less graciously, to say that Richards' claims were "not quite, but nearly" true. Finally, Sir Elton John told "Rolling Stone Magazine" that he was "a bit put off" to hear about Jagger's private parts.
It may be funny to read about this, but it has a serious side too. According to The Mirror, Jagger canceled a planned Rolling Stones tour because he was so angry about what Richards had written. I can't blame him. It's a shame, though. If all the Stones were in as fine form as Jagger was at the Grammys, it could have been the show of a lifetime.
