WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Michelle Obama has been married for almost two decades, but she still has some valuable dating advice for women.

Michelle dished her advice for the new issue of Glamour magazine's Women of the Year issue.

"Cute's good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it's, 'Who are you as a person?'" Michelle said. "Don't look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul.... When you're dating a man, you should always feel good.... You shouldn't be in a relationship with somebody who doesn't make you completely happy and make you feel whole."

CBS journalist Katie Couric conducted the interview for a new monthly column she will be doing for the fashion publication, which will spotlight a female role model each month.

While Michelle has become a fashion icon, she is also scrutinized. But the First Lady revealed she doesn't let it bother her.

"People are always going to have opinions, and people have a right to their opinions, particularly when you're the First Lady; you're representing the nation. So I can't be surprised that people are interested," she told Katie. "But I've tried to be at peace with the choices that I make first, and then be open to everyone else's reflection."

While Michelle has undoubtedly become a role model for women across the globe, she revealed it was people in her family and her instructors that she most admired.

"They were the people in my life. My mom, for sure. My dad. The teachers. For me, role modeling was immediate, it was touchable," she said. "Children connect with who is in their lives, present and accounted for... That's why we're trying to encourage moms, teachers, fathers, to be that presence."

And she is thrilled she can continue to be a figure that others can look up to.

"I think that mentoring is such a critical part of the role I can play in this position. I see how little bits of exposure and big bits of exposure really change my girls significantly, and I want that for more girls around the country and the world really makes a difference," she said.

You are all just jealous of Michelle Obama, and probably a bit racist too. Shame on you. The world needs role models and she has always been an excellent one. Yes, her arrival at the White House gives her wider audience and attracts more criticism (even jealous turds like you are entitled to their opinion). But if she stays there one day or 10 years it won't change her wonderful persona
